An entry from January 2015 from another site.

So today I was reminded of the gift of presence. On my ride I was grateful to notice all the changes mother nature had made since I was last there. I return to this trail often, so it's a bit more apparent to me. A tree down, affording the forest floor new light in a place that was shaded before. A new sandbar in the creek that wasn't there before due to the heavy recent rainfall. She is always changing, while some things give way for new opportunities. Much like how we are supposed to live. Keep changing, evolving...

Then later, as I found a nice high ridge to take a rest, I basked in the much needed winter sun, and embraced the gusts of breeze rolling through the forest. I closed my eyes to take in the vibration of the area and gave thanks for the wind, the earth beneath me, the plants and trees, and all the wild creatures. At that moment I heard a snap behind me from a footstep, and turned my head to see. Four large white tail deer were quietly approaching me from behind, which then turned and scattered as I moved. Such magnificent creatures, little white tails pointing up and all! What a blessing!

I also noticed the kindness of humans, as I flatted early in my ride. Every single person that passed me asked if I was okay, and if I had everything I needed. Much love and respect on the trail.

So I just rode today, with little interest in going fast. I only felt the desire to move, and to breathe. To observe, and to absorb. And to live, and to love. And the lesson today was that you will always find what you decide to look for. So love and light, or angst at the left and the right? You decide...either way, there you are.
